Why The Christmas Season?

It isn't just the Christmas tree

or presents on the floor;

It isn't just the Christmas wreath

you hang upon the door.

Christmas is remembering -

just how it came about;

A babe was born in a cattle stall -

the inn turned Mary out.

"No room in the inn" - but God found a way -

they were led to a simple manger;

That is where baby Jesus was born

and without any danger.

The Son of God in a manger stall,

surrounded by cattle and sheep;

A lowly place - but that was God's plan -

a memory for us to keep.

Jesus, the Christ - Son of God -

born to save us all;

His birthday was called "Christmas" -

the Babe in the manger stall.

Both shepherds and wisemen followed the star -

a special star in the East;

They knelt before Christ Jesus - their King -

there wasn't any feast.

As we open gifts, eat turkey and treats,

we need think, why the Christmas season?

And remember the Holy Christ child -

For "HE" is the reason.
