A True Part of Christmas

There's a kettle on the corner;
a Christian soldier there
With a smile of thanks for our donation
that shows we really care.

Warmth is in this kettle in a
million different ways -
Clothes, hot food and shelter,
giving hope for better days.

A little child will hold a toy
and feel the Christmas joy
Of how the wise men followed the star
and gave to the manger-boy.

We've planned our Christmas dinner,
wrapped the gifts and lit the tree,
And see the tree-top angel looking
down on you and me.

It's now the Christmas star, that is
deep within the heart,
Reminds us - one more gift to give -
we gladly play our part.

There's a kettle on the corner;
a soldier on the beat;
Our hearts are light and merry now
our Christmas is complete.
