Winter Night
Winter night - so hushed and still,
The snow lay fluffy white;
'Tis insulating all the world
And makes a wondrous sight.
Each ice-coated branch and limb
Reflecting light moonbeams
With mirrored twinkles in the snow;
Our driveway fairly gleams.
Sounds are muted; here and there
Snowplows and shovels scrape
The snow, to make the pathways clear
And keep the roads in shape.
Quietly prepared for sleep -
My dreams will let me roam -
Refreshed and lulled by silence, deep,
I wend my way back home.
