A Day For A Book
The sun is on the ice-encrusted
snow,
glistening on ice-covered trees;
I love to look from the inside out,
but I guess not everyone agrees.
School buses were running on time
this morn -
not even a day off school;
The children dream of the skating rink
and think that would be so cool.
Birds are feeding early today;
the wind is picking up;
Grandma puts the kettle on,
and with her book, curls up.
Winter is a time to rest -
not worry about what's to do;
Other seasons, when we have to work,
we'll think of these days that are few.
The sun is on the ice-encrusted
snow,
glistening on ice-covered trees;
If you're too old to skate, follow this Grandma's lead -
put the kettle on, if you please.
